After nearly 6 years of autonomous research as a teacher in Spain, in the summer of 2017, our founder Vesta traveled to Greece to help therapists in different NGOs begin to employ art therapy for refugees. Working with the NGO Hestia Hellas in Athens, with the assistance of psychologists, therapists and other volunteers, she was able to directly work with refugees, conducting workshops and activites that are based on the fundamentals of art therapy . Whether they were children or both parents and children playing together, the art therapy activities were there for simple and helpful reasons – to help them experience happiness together during the workshop, and sometimes explore their emotions and express themselves without having the pressure of verbal expression. Vesta realized that art therapy was a way for people, regardless of age, to express themselves, when speaking might not work.
